• Make a test version (called a toile) out of Lycra, (there is no need to finish the Toile with elastic as this is purely to test the size) before cutting your final fabric.
• Pay attention to the stretch direction of your fabric, especially for fitted costumes. Make sure the greater stretch goes across the body.

Why can’t I find any patterns for boys?

Unfortunately, there are not so many dance costume patterns out there for boys. Here at Bespoke Dancewear, we are developing a boys range covering everything from a basic practice leotard to a full competition suit.
